Since it had been 15 years since the last time I had been to this beautiful place, and my husband had never been, we decided to make Destin our last getaway before the craziness of the holidays began. We drove down from Nashville (about a 7 hour drive) and spent a couple beautiful days! We stayed at the Hampton Inn on Scenic Hwy (GORGEOUS, by the way. Huge rooms, beautiful and plenty roomy pool and a great fitness center!), enjoyed walking around the deserted (in December!) boardwalk, drove to Rosemary Beach and ate SO. MUCH. FOOD. It was lovely!!
Our favorite find of this visit was a delicious brunch spot called Crackings and we couldn’t get enough so we ate there both mornings for breakfast. I had the Quinoa Berry Bowl both times, with a Kids order of the French Toast (which is just one piece of bread cut in half, so much easier to devour!) so it was the perfect combination of healthy with a side of sweet!
We drove to Rosemary Beach and spent an afternoon walking around, and met friends for dinner at Surfing Deer, which was also amazing. We enjoyed walking around the shopping area called Shops at the Hub 30a and I discovered the most amazing, hand made custom, designer looking – but – affordably – priced clothing store called Nicole Paloma and I wanted everything in the store! We also loved the “square” and the cute coffee shops, sweet shop, bookstore and just walking around.
Back in Destin, we hit up The Back Porch for a fun and casual happy hour, and ended up staying to watch the sunset. We were able to walk there from our hotel as it was just across the street and was ocean front. Amazing views and cheap drinks?! What could be better?
I included some photos from our time in Destin and we hope to go back again, soon. Top L-R: Rosemary Square, us at the Back Porch during sunset, the beach right behind the Back Porch. Bottom Row is my food at Crackings! It was out of this world.
